Troop 6166 Campout Info - June 6-8
Arrivals, I anticipate will take place about 6pm or after. I have planned a cracker barrel for 8pm or thereabout. I plan to wait until Troops are settled and have had an opportunity for dinner. I will let the scouts decide on the campfire but after the cracker barrel. Skits and song are welcome. I really want this to be scout driven.
Saturday morning I plan to have our scouts, 9:30am to 10:30 perhaps, play a ice breaker game, then listen to older scouts speak about their experiences, ie Eagle Scout experience (Chloe) and Jamboree (Veronica). I will also offer other scouts to speak, Thorns and Roses.
The remainder of the day will be open. There are hiking trails, a gaga pit, and I will have corn hole set up.
We will meet at West Wayne Plaza at 5:30pm on Friday June 6th. Most of the events will be in the morning on Saturday morning. The afternoon will have games and the focus is to meet other female scouts and make some new friends. We will plan on leaving at 8pm on Saturday evening. We will plan on being back to West Wayne Plaza at 8:30pm.
End of the year celebration/Court of Awards
It's time to start planning for our end-of-year celebration with our family picnic Court of Awards. Please use the attachment to sign up for your dish to pass and headcount. We will be using a different venue this year that can accommodate more people. We will have the option to be indoors if we manage to pick a day that will have severe thunderstorm warnings, like we have had for the last 2 years.

Jamboree is more than a destination. It’s the adventure of lifetime. And there is simply nothing else like it on the planet.
What’s a Jamboree? It’s not camp. National Jamboree is 360-degrees of fun, friends and fellowship with hands-on adventure that takes you places you never thought you’d go and challenge you to try things you never thought you could.
It’s the beginning of your own heroes’ journey that will challenge you to go farther than you ever thought possible. You’ll reach deeper and lift yourself higher to become the best version of yourself.
The next National Jamboree will be held at Summit Bechtel Reserve from July 22-31, 2026.

🏕️ Just a reminder, changes to The Buddy System went into effect September 1.
The buddy system is designed to provide an additional layer of safeguarding by ensuring no youth member is alone and that a buddy can get help in an emergency.
The buddy system is used whenever youth members are outside the line of sight of qualified adult leadership and specific activities where the buddy system is required for participation. Of note:
The adult unit leadership oversees and approves buddies.
Buddies are two and can also be three to prevent youth members from being alone.
A buddy pair cannot be mixed gender; where appropriate, a third youth must be added (for a buddy group of 3).
Youth siblings of the same gender may serve as buddies regardless of age with permission from their parents or legal guardians.
Except for siblings, it is recommended that the age gap between buddies be at most three years for all non-sleeping activities but must be no more than two years for all tenting.
When exceptional circumstances warrant, a parent or legal guardian may serve as a buddy for their child’s Scouting activities, but youth buddies meeting the above criteria, if available, are always preferred.
Learn more about The Buddy System by consulting the Guide to Safe Scouting.
